About Akira
Dr. Akira Kaku has 11 years of teaching experience, having notably worked on the faculty for the University of Michigan Piano Pedagogy Laboratory Program, as well as the Indiana University Jacobs Academy Young Pianists Program. He specializes in helping students build awareness of how their body interacts with the keyboard, establishing a connection between physical motion and musicality. With this goal in mind, he has helped many students at all levels develop healthy practicing and playing habits, enabling them to successfully explore their natural talents.
Dr. Kaku is also an experienced performer. Throughout his career, he has competed at the international level and earned prizes throughout North America and Japan, including the Kawai Music Competition: Piano Solo S-course.
